Since the 1950s, the T2 Kombinationskraftwagen has been the most hardworking of vehicles. Kombis have taken children to school and medics into war zones. They have transported revolutionaries to barricades, hotdogs to the masses and hippies to the outer regions of the cosmos. But soon this venerable icon will go to that undiscovered country from which even the most experienced psychedelic adventurer can never return.
In December 2013, after 56 solid years of service, the last T2 will roll out of Volkswagen Group’s São Bernardo do Campo plant in Brazil – the last factory in the last country to produce this magnificent machine.
To celebrate the launch of the last Kombi, AlmapBBDO São Paulo has created a storytelling platform for people to share their personal experiences of the T2. It is doubtful whether you could get the same storytelling mileage out of any other motor vehicle in history.
